What is a BIN?

The Bank Identification Number (BIN) is the first 6-8 digits of a payment card. It identifies the issuing bank, card network, and card type.

Privacy First

BIN data is not sensitive PII. Only the first 6 digits are analyzed - no full card numbers or cardholder data is ever processed.

Why It Matters

Different card types have different retry characteristics. Understanding BIN data helps optimize when and how to retry failed payments.
